HAIR TIPS: MY WEEKLY REGIMEN

Hi sweeties... how are you?

Like I said in my last post, I started my hair regimen around November, 2013. So its been 11 months and my hair has really improved not just in length but in health. I will be sharing
with you what I do most weekends.

* I cowash my hair in between week days and wash with a sulphate free shampoo every week. I also wash with a sulphate shampoo every 6 - 8 weeks to remove build up.

* I deep condition my hair every week alternating between a protein conditioner and a moisture conditioner or i mix both conditioners and let the conditioner sit on my hair for minimum of 30 minutes.

* I rinse out the conditioner with cold water and then dry with a t - shirt. When damp, I moisturise and then seal with olive oil.

* Every other day, I just moisturise and seal and when my hair feels dry or tangled, I just detangle with my fingers. My hair has really thanked me for this.

And please, keep in mind:
*Relax your hair every 8 to 12 weeks or more.

*Follow the directions on the relaxer and do not allow relaxer to sit on your hair more than required.

*Do not comb your hair every day. You can use a soft brittle brush to just brush it down or simple use your fingers to detangle.

I hope this was informative.

HEALTH TIPS : Natural remedy; prevention and treatment of cancer.

It is easier to prevent cancer than to treat it. Many things which prevent it as discussed in this article help safeguard all of us. But once contracted, some treatments help one person more than another. So, prevention is the best way to deal with cancer.

About 80% of cancer cases appear to be linked to the way people live there lives. For example, whether or not you smoke, the foods you eat and certain industrial pollutants all affect your likelihood of getting cancer. The role of diet in the cause and prevention of cancer is particularly important. About 35% of cancer deaths maybe associated with dietary influence.

The seven things you must do to avoid contracting cancer are listed below

1. Avoid obesity: If you are 40% or more over weight, you increase your risk of colon, breast, prostrate, gallbladder, ovary and uterine cancer.

2. Cut down on total fat intake: High-fat intake maybe a factor in the development of certain cancers (particularly breast, colon and prostrate). By avoiding fatty food, you are better able to control body weight.

3. Eat more fibre foods: These includes vegetables, fruits and legumes such as dry peas and beans. These foods may help reduce the risk of colon cancer.

4. Include food rich in vitamin A and C: Favourable foods are dark-green and deep-yellow fresh vegetables and fruits such as carrots, peaches and apricot for beta carotene, the precursor of vitamin A. Also use oranges, grape fruits, strawberries, and green and red pepper for vitamin C. These foods may help lower risk of cancers of the larynx, esophagus and the lungs.

5. Daily intake of cruciferous vegetables: These are cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and others. They have ingredients that build resistant to certain cancers.

6 . Avoid salt-cured, smoked or nitrate-cured foods: Among those who eat these foods frequently, there is more incidence of cancer of the esophagus and stomach.

7. Keep alcohol consumption moderate if you must drink: Heavy use of alcohol especially when accompanied by cigarettes smoking or smokeless tobacco, increases risk of cancers of the mouth, larynx, throat, esophagus, lungs and liver.

BALDNESS AND HAIR LOSS

                               google.com

There are several types of hair loss: baldness or loss of hair ( alopecia), Loss of all scalp hair (alopecia totalis), Hair falling out in patches(alopecia areata), Another type of hair loss is localised and caused by scarring.

Alopecia most frequently occurs in men, but occasionally in women. A single hair generally last 2-6 years and is then replaced by a new hair. When baldness begins, there is an excess of shorter, thinner hair- the kinds babies have on heir head. Although, it is normal to lose as much as 100 hairs a day. Once the hair follicle dies, it never again produces hair. Yet there are instances in which the hair follicle has not died, but only has stopped producing hair. Careful treatment restores growth.

CAUSES OF BALDNESS AND HAIR LOSS
Heredity ( especially in men), hormonal factors, aging, local or systematic disease. Localised hair loss could also be caused by scarring following a wound or operation.
Other factors include poor circulation, high fever or other acute illness, surgery, radiation (X ray therapy), medicinal drugs, anesthesia, stress, poor diets, skin diseases, sudden weight loss, iron defficiency, thyroid diseases, obesity, birth control pills, diabetes, or vitamin deficiency,

Significant causes of hair baldness include the use of hair dyes. Washing it daily, or hot-air dryers. Hair pulled too tight in ponytails or braids, or set in tight rollers can sometimes come out as patches.

Hair loss in women most often occurs after menopause. Some women lose some hair 2-3 months after childbirth because hormonal changes during late term tend to block normal hair loss. But this is reversed within 6 months. Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss. Too little vitamin A can cause hair loss.

HAIR TIPS: Eggs for hair breakage.

Hi sweeties, how are you today? Another interesting one for you.

There are many problems of hair but the most common is hair breakage. Every ones hair grows but constant combing, applications of chemicals such as relaxers, and frequent use of heat such as hair straighter, blow dryer, curling iron causes hair breakage making it seem as if our hair cannot grow and thus remains at same length.

Breakage occurs when our hair becomes protein deficient. Relaxer weakens the protein bonds in our hair, thus making it susceptible to breakage. But you can stop hair breakage by adding more protein to your hair and by increasing the protein in your diet. Protein smooths the cuticles of our hair, creating smoother strands and stronger hair. For dry scalp, use only the yolk. The yolk is rich in fats and protein which is extremely moisturising. It also acts as a conditioner, keeping your hair hydrated all the time.

Procedure for application:
*I wash my hair with a sulphate free shampoo, rinse and then wrap my hair with a towel to remove excess water.

*I usually mix the egg yolk with two table spoons of mayonnaise, blending properly until it becomes creamy.

*I apply the mixture on my hair strands, focusing more on my ends and leave for minimum of 30 minutes, covering my hair with a heat cap.

*I rinse with cold water because rinsing with warm water sticks the egg to the hair.

*The smell of egg could be a bit unbearable, so I usually use a moisturising conditioner after rinsing out the egg yolk.

*I rinse out the condtioner with cold water and wrap my hair with a T-shirt for about 45 minutes and allowed to air dry.

I have a coarse hair so, I apply this treatment before and after texlaxing. If you have a fine hair, you can apply this mixture every month.

If your hair is protein sensitive, you might consider applying this mixture every other month.

HAIR TIPS: 10 reasons you are not gaining length

Hi sweeties, How are you?
I am dedicating this first post to beginners, trying to gain length.

My friend recently complained to me that her hair has been stucked in 5 inches for 5 years. I really need my hair to grow to at least 10 inches, I just want to be able to pack my hair in a low bun because I get frustrated making my hair all the time. Is this too much to ask for???

You are in control of whether your hair grows or not. Often times we repeatedly make mistakes and ignore instructions even when it is clearly written on the wall. Although, it seems we are doing everything we can to take care of our tresses. But below are the common mistakes we make.

1. Applying relaxers on previously relaxed hair. Please, Give your hair a break. Relaxers are chemicals, they act by breaking down the protein bonds. Relaxing previously relaxed hair will lead to hair breakage and you will hardly notice hair growth.

2. Applying relaxers on our hair every 4 weeks. Relaxers should be applied at least 8 to 10 weeks. Let the new growth show up before your next relaxer.

3. Tight ponytail and tight braids can lead to a medical condition known as Traction Alopecia. Traction Alopecia is a type of hair loss that is caused by putting the hair under strain or tension.

4. Using heat way too often. Straighter, blow dryers, curling irons are damaging to our hair. It should be used less often.

5. Sleeping on a cotton pillow which results in drying out our hair moisture. Use a satin pillow instead. Alternatively, you can tie your hair with a satin scarf.

6. Lack of protein conditioner. Always ensure that you use a protein conditioner a week before applying relaxer, and a week after applying relaxer. And for every other week, mix your protein condition with a deep conditioner for balance.

7. Using the wrong products for our hair. Please always go for product that indicates: for weak, damaged hair, dry hair and products that promises to reconstruct your hair.

8. Over manipulating your hair by combing frequently. Choose protective styles that doesn't requires frequent combing.

9. Using products that contains mineral oils and petrolatum does not allow moisture into your hair and they have no moisturising ability.

10. Combing your hair with a fine tooth comb instead of a wide tooth comb.

Hope this was helpful. Share your questions... We are ready to help.
